Trashy三人组

来自Deltarune Wiki

The Trashy Trio is a Darkner optional boss in Chapter 5 of Deltarune. They are a group comprised of Trashy, Ball, and Nubert, and can be fought as a battle challenge in the Top Bakery. Despite never having encountered nor interacted with one another prior to Chapter 5, they fight together in a format similar to the Party Dojo fights of prior chapters.

Profile

Appearance

The Trashy Trio consists of Trashy, Ball, and Nubert. Trashy is the only member to be unchanged since his first appearance. Ball wears a yellow wig and stands behind Trashy and Nubert in a humanoid form, with a segmented body made up of similarly-shaped, faceless pink balls constituting its limbs and torso. Nubert has changed to sport golden, pointed hair.

Personality

The Trashy Trio is formed of neglected or unpopular characters (apart from Nubert, who is ironically loved by everyone). However, all three characters have relatively minor importance to the plot of Deltarune. Their goal is to earn respect by defeating the party and being established as the most popular trio in Castle Town.

Etymology

Their group name is derived from the "lead" member, Trashy, and the fact they are a group of three.

Main story

As the Party Dojo has remained the Love Dojo since Chapter 4, Lanino and Elnina have overrun the building, stating "It's ONLY for the hottest, stablest throuples in town." Jigsaw Joe can instead be found in TOP Bakery, stating that he "kind of stopped fitting in, at the dojo", so he started a "new battle frontier there". The Trashy Trio is the only dojo battle that can be completed in Chapter 5, but only if Nubert is present in Castle Town as a result of recruiting all Chapter 2 enemies.

If the player FIGHTs the Trio, a column of stock almond milk images appears and takes the hits, dealing little damage. As such, the Trashy Trio must be defeated by ACTing. The flavor text refers to this column as "Milk Spire". It is the same milk used by K. Round practicing self-care in Chapter 1 and K_K healing the Sweet Cap'n Cakes in Chapter 2.

After the Trashy Trio reaches 99% MERCY, the Mikes appear and accuse them of misusing "the Battat motif" (or "the Air Waves motif" in the Nintendo Switch 2 version). Both groups then engage in a fight, during which the Trashy Trio immediately escapes; the other Mikes proceed to beat up small Mike instead. Lanino and Elnina appear, attempting to defeat the Mikes, followed by Rouxls Kaard, whose appearance prompts everyone to leave. Rouxls declares the battle a tie.

After the battle concludes, Nubert remains in Top Bakery, shaving his hair and declaring it as a sign of him having changed.

In battle

Attacks

  • Trashy Rush: Trashy rams into the bullet board and falls over, opening up and quickly spewing garbage bags that release individual pieces of trash on the arena. If the player uses the CleanUp ACT, they can sweep up the trash.
  • Ball Toss: Ball hurls a volley of pink balls that start at the top of the bullet board and move left to right, bouncing off the sides.
  • Nubert Spear: Nubert stretches upwards, bouncing off the bullet board's walls if he hits them. If Nubert touches a piece of trash, it will explode into five lasers. This also has a variation where Nubert comes out of Trashy instead.
  • Trashy Beam: The second time using Trashy Rush, Trashy will stay open on the ground. The next turn, he shoots a giant laser that causes any trash it contacts to explode into five lasers.
  • Trashy Beam?: The third time using Trashy Rush, Trashy will stay open on the ground. The next turn, Nubert comes out of Trashy, stretching himself into a S-shape across the bullet board. If Nubert touches a piece of trash, it will explode into five lasers.

Trashy Beam and Trashy Beam? will be used randomly after Trashy Rush once they have each appeared once. Trashy's garbage bags, the pink balls, and Nubert will accrue MERCY if they pass through the hoop when sing the LayUp ACT.

Strategy

Turn routing
  • The Trashy Trio's fight follows a loose order of actions that can be taken in order to minimize risk and accrue MERCY simultaneously, as opposed to having a static route like many other encounters:
    • The CleanUp ACT with Ralsei enables the bullet board to be cleared of trash, reducing the threat level of Trashy's Trash Laser and Nubert's Goin' Up/Wiggly Nubert attacks.
    • When it is Ball's turn to attack, the LayUp ACT can be used to catch the balls thrown during its Ball Bounce attack, and is the preferred choice if most of the trash has been cleaned up.
    • If Susie/Ralsei are not needed for a group ACT, it is recommended to use their S/R Actions to accrue additional MERCY, though it is worth noting that using both in tandem reduces the expected MERCY from 10% to 8%.
    • Acting alone, Kris is entirely unable to accrue MERCY, as MoveUp does not do so, and premature SPAREing to accrue MERCY does not work in this fight. Relegating Kris to healing via consumables or using group ACTs/MoveUP will allow an idle Susie/Ralsei to accrue additional MERCY while balancing the need for healing or utility during the fight. A particularly useful consumable here is the SpinCake, as it can be obtained easily due to the fight being in Castle Town.
Dodging
  • When it is Trashy's turn to attack, his Trash Spill attack can mostly be dodged by using MoveUp, then sticking to the top-left corner with minor adjustments as needed.
    • His Trash Laser attack can be dodged by avoiding the bottom of the bullet board. If using CleanUp whenever trash is spread, the attack will pose very little threat otherwise.
  • When it is Ball's turn to attack, remaining near the top of the screen will minimize risk of being hit by rebounds. Look at the arc in which balls are thrown, and move accordingly before they fall. This will also allow you to get many balls in the hoop when using LayUp.
  • When it is Nubert's turn to attack, his Goin' Up attack can be dodged by looking at the angle he takes below the bullet board. Keep close to the bottom of the board, and move slightly if he is pointed at the SOUL. Lingering at the bottom mitigates the possibility of being hit by him rebounding as well. This attack also benefits from cleaning up trash.
    • His Wiggly Nubert attack can be avoided in large part by staying towards the center of the board, with the lasers spawned being the majority of the attack's threat.

Trivia

  • If the party interacted with Starwalker in Chapter 1, he will stand next to the Trashy Trio in Castle Town. After speaking with a member of the Trio and watching them disappear, he will break his usual speaking conventions to say "No I don't know why they disappeared. Its scary."
  • Nubert's hair is identical to Super Saiyans from the Dragon Ball series. Some of his other lines are also Dragon Ball references:
    • "Nubert's goin' further beyond." references Goku saying "And this... is to go EVEN FURTHER BEYOND!" when transforming into Super Saiyan 3.
    • "... but Nubert hasn't even gone times ten." references the Kaio-ken x10, a technique that multiplies the user's power and speed by ten times.
  • The Trashy Trio's flavor text imitates the Knight's flavor text as well as (in one case) the other Shadow Crystal bosses:
    • "You felt lightheaded. You see rhythmically bouncing balls." references "You felt lightheaded. You saw golden stars..."
    • "Your vision expands. The world moves up around you." references "Your vision narrows. ... The world revolves around you."
    • "Trashy's hands glow a strange color..." references "The Knight's hands glow a strange color...".
    • "The air crackles with something." references the other Shadow Crystal bosses' "The air crackles with freedom."
  • In an apparent bug, if Trashy Trio reaches 100% MERCY during the middle of their turn, and then the party is DOWNed later that same turn, the turn will end, but the full end-of-battle cutscene will occur with all three party members DOWNed. After the game returns to the overworld, everything will behave as though the party had lost, including the option to rematch.[1]
