| ——Trashy Trio Party Dojo menu description, Chapter 5 | ||
The Trashy Trio is a Darkner optional boss in Chapter 5 of Deltarune. They are a group comprised of Trashy, Nubert, and Ball, and can be fought in the Top Bakery. Despite never having encountered nor interacted with one another prior to Chapter 5, they fight together in a format similar to the Party Dojo fights of prior chapters.
The Trashy Trio consists of Trashy, Nubert, and Ball. Nubert has changed to sport golden, pointed hair. Ball wears a yellow wig and stands behind Trashy and Nubert in a humanoid form, with a segmented body made up of similarly-shaped, faceless pink balls constituting its limbs and torso. Trashy is the only member to be unchanged since his first appearance.
The Trashy Trio is formed of neglected or unpopular characters (apart from Nubert, who is ironically loved by everyone). However, all three characters have relatively minor importance to the plot of Deltarune. Their goal is to earn respect by defeating the party and being established as the most popular trio in Castle Town.
Their group name is derived from the "lead" member, Trashy, and the fact they are a group of three.
As the Party Dojo has remained the Love Dojo since Chapter 4, Lanino and Elnina have overrun the building, stating "It's ONLY for the hottest, stablest throuples in town." Jigsaw Joe can instead be found in TOP Bakery, stating that he "kind of stopped fitting in, at the dojo", so he started a "new battle frontier there". The Trashy Trio is the only dojo battle that can be completed in Chapter 5, but only if Nubert is present in Castle Town as a result of Recruiting all Chapter 2 enemies.
If the player FIGHTs the Trio, a column of stock almond milk images appears and takes the hits, dealing little damage. As such, the Trashy Trio must be defeated by ACTing. The flavor text refers to this column as "Milk Spire". It is the same milk used by K. Round practicing self-care in Chapter 1 and K_K healing the Sweet Cap'n Cakes in Chapter 2.
After they reach 99% MERCY, the Mikes appear and accuse the Trashy Trio of using "the Battat motif". (It’s called “the Air Waves motif” on the Switch 2.) Both groups then engage in a fight, during which the Trashy Trio immediately escapes; the other Mikes proceed to beat up small Mike instead. Lanino and Elnina appear, attempting to defeat the Mikes, followed by Rouxls Kaard, whose appearance prompts everyone to leave. Rouxls declares the battle a tie.
After the battle concludes, Nubert shaves his hair and declares it as a sign of him having changed.
- Trash Spill: Trashy rams into the battle box and falls over, quickly spewing garbage bags that release individual pieces of junk on the arena. If the player uses the CleanUp ACT, they can sweep up the junk.
- Ball Bounce: Ball hurls a volley of balls that can bounce on the arena's side. If the player uses the LayUp ACT, they can catch the balls using the net.
- Goin' Up: Nubert stretches upwards, bouncing off the battle box's walls if he hits them. If Nubert touches a piece of trash, it will explode into five lasers.
- Trash Laser: instead of getting up after doing the Trash Spill, Trashy stays down and shoots a giant laser that makes the trash explode.
- Wiggly Nubert: Nubert comes out of Trashy, stretching himself into a S-shape. If Nubert touches a piece of trash, it will explode into five lasers.
The Trashy Trio's fight follows a loose order of actions that can be taken in order to minimize risk and accrue MERCY simultaneously. When it is Trashy's turn to attack, his Trash Spill attack can mostly be dodged by using MoveUp, then sticking to the top left corner. The CleanUp ACT with Ralsei allows for one to clear the field of trash, reducing the threat level of Trashy's Trash Laser and Nubert's Goin' Up/Wiggly Nubert attacks. When it is Ball's turn, the LayUp ACT can be used to catch the balls thrown during his Ball Bounce attack, and is the preferred choice if most of the trash has been cleaned up. If Susie/Ralsei aren't needed for a group ACT, it is recommended to use their S/R Actions to accrue additional MERCY, though its worth noting that using both in tandem reduces the expected MERCY payout from 10% to 8%.
Alone, Kris is entirely unable to accrue MERCY, as MoveUp is a utility based ACT, and premature SPARING to accrue MERCY does not work in this fight. Relegating Kris to healing via Consumables or using group ACTs/MoveUP will allow an idle Susie/Ralsei to accrue additional MERCY while balancing the need for healing or utility during the fight. The SpinCake in particular is a strong item for healing in the fight, as it can be easily obtained again after, due to the fight taking place in Castle Town. It is unnecessary to route your turn to have a party member SPARE, as the fight ends after the Trio's attack when at 99% MERCY.

- If the party interacted with Starwalker in Chapter 1, he will stand next to the Trashy Trio in Castle Town. After speaking with a member of the Trio and watching them disappear, he will break his usual speaking conventions to say "No I don't know why they disappeared. Its scary."
- Nubert's hair is identical to Super Saiyans from the Dragon Ball series. Some of his other lines are also Dragon Ball references:
- "Nubert's goin' further beyond." references Goku saying "And this... is to go EVEN FURTHER BEYOND!" when transforming into Super Saiyan 3.
- "... but Nubert hasn't even gone times ten." references the Kaio-ken x10, a technique that multiplies the user's power and speed by ten times.
- The Trashy Trio's flavor text playfully imitates that of Shadow Crystal bosses:
- "The air crackles with something." references the shared similarity between the bosses of the line "The air crackles with freedom" or something similar.
- "You felt lightheaded." is flavor text while battling the Knight, and "Your vision expands" is similar to the Knight's text "Your vision narrows."
- "Trashy's hands glow a strange color..." references the Knight's flavor text before using its final attack, "The Knight's hands glow a strange color..."
- "The world moves up around you." is likely a reference to THE WORLD REVOLVING.
